Profile of Anwar Ali

He came from a humble background and Aaqib Javed took him under his wing and provided him with the cricket gear. He is a typical Pakistani pacemen, who can swing the new and the old ball and can also generate some good pace. He showed promise with the ball in the U-19 World cup final in 2006 against India, where his 5 for 38 helped Pakistan register a 38-run win. He was named in the training squad for the ODI series against Zimbabwe in 2008. He was also part of an impressive tour of Zimbabwe and Kenya with the Academy team, where he took 29 wickets at an average of 16.31. That performance helped him earn a place in the Pakistan's squad for the T20 tournament in Canada.

Ali made his ODI debut against South Africa in November 2014, he scored 43 crucial runs and picked up 2 wickets. That performance earned him the Man of the Match award. He has since been in the squad but has played in only a handful of matches.

Interesting Fact: By winning the Man of the Match award in his debut game, Ali became the 9th Pakistani to achieve this feat.
