Profile of Rahat Ali
Born on September 12, 1988, Rahat Ali is a left-arm pacer and a right-handed batsman. He first made a national appearance with the ODI squad against Sri Lanka in June, 2012, at Pallekele. Unfortunately, that also happens to be the only ODI that he has featured so far.

Known for his brisk pace and movement off the deck, the selectors wanted him to bowl on the bouncy South African wickets and included him in the Test squad. He played his first Test match against South Africa in Johannesburg, but though he bowled well could not pick up any wickets. It was at the Centurion in the second Test that he really troubled the Proteas. Even the likes of Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers could not handle his pace and bounce and he ended the innings with 6 wickets conceding 127 runs.

He toured with the side to play Test matches in Zimbabwe and did reasonably well. However, he lost his place in the side which took on South Africa before getting the nod for a home Test series against Sri Lanka. The selectors do not invest in him for the limited-overs format and he played an ODI since his debut in 2012.

Some of his major domestic teams have been Multan Tigers, Khan Research Laboratorie and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited. In about 50 first-class games he has taken over 180 wickets at a very impressive average of around 22.
